The Krista Education Group has entered into the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) for “The Largest Participation of Children in Literacy Talent Performance”. The recent Krista-Malaysia Book of Records Certificate Presentation Ceremony was a celebration of the successful efforts of some 2,500 children of Krista early childhood centres throughout the nation in creating a new national record for the Krista Education Group – its 11th so far.
The Krista Education Group, established some 30 years ago with more than 100 early childhood education centres nationwide, has embarked on this project with the collaboration and support of Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka with the objective of promoting literacy among young children primarily in Bahasa Melayu and English as well as in other languages. In addition to this, the purpose of the project was to instil a sense of unity achievement and pride in the children through a national record creation.
Among the literacy talent performances showcased by the young children who participated in this project at their respective centres were story-telling, reading, speaking, poetry and religious recitals, choral speaking, writing, and spelling.
The event witnessed the presentation of the Malaysia Book of Records certificate to Krista Education Group by the representative from the office of MBOR and the performances of literacy talents by children from various Krista centres around the country. Among the distinguished guests present at the event were Dr Hazami Jahari (Ketua Pengarah Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka), Dato’ R. Rajendran (CEO, Krista Education Group), R. Mangayarkarasi (Director, Krista Group), Lee Seng Chee (COO, Krista Education Group), Seetha Cangayah (Project Organising Chairman), Krista centre operators, principals, teachers, and parents.
