The project initiative has seen a 400% increase in job postings from local businesses, underscoring its commitment to improving services for employers and jobseekers. The project builds on Jobstreet’s successful East Malaysia campaign and offers advanced AI-powered matching solutions to boost local hiring and regional growth.

Following the success of its free job ads initiative in East Malaysia, Jobstreet by SEEK has extended its freemium campaign to employers in Perlis, Terengganu and Kelantan. This strategic move is designed to empower businesses in these northern states, offering them access to free job ads while leveraging advanced AI technology for more precise candidate matches.

Launched in August 2024, this initiative builds on the earlier campaign in Sabah and Sarawak, where job opportunities on the platform increased by 40%, giving employers better access to find the right talent. Since expanding to Perlis, Terengganu and Kelantan, Jobstreet has already seen a remarkable 400% rise in job ads, highlighting the strong demand from local employers. These businesses are now capitalising on the surge in job search activity across the region, which has grown significantly in recent months, making this an ideal time to post job ads online instead of relying on traditional hiring methods.

By combining its freemium model with SEEK’s AI-powered platform, Jobstreet aims to streamline the recruitment process for employers, ensuring they connect with the right talent based on skills, career goals, and market trends. To date, more than 266,000 candidates from these three states have engaged with Jobstreet, showcasing a growing talent pool ready to meet the needs of local businesses.

Driving Local Business Growth with AI Precision
Employers in Perlis, Terengganu and Kelantan benefit from Jobstreet by SEEK’s free job ads initiative, which removes financial barriers and provides access to advanced AI-driven tools for more precise talent matching. Over the past six months (April to September 2024), these three states have seen nearly a 20% increase in job ad views compared to the same period last year, reflecting an overall rise in job-seeking activity. Employers are encouraged to take advantage of this growing trend to capture active jobseekers and strengthen their teams during this critical period.

This trend mirrors the success of Jobstreet’s East Malaysia free job ads campaign in May 2024, which boosted employment in similar sectors. However, the retail and merchandise sectors have emerged as the third most popular industries in Perlis, Terengganu and Kelantan, contrasting with the hotel and hospitality focus seen in East Malaysia.

“These industries are vital to regional growth and we’re pleased to see how quickly they’ve adopted the free job ads initiative,” said Nicholas Lam, Acting Managing Director of Jobstreet by SEEK Malaysia. “Our AI-driven platform ensures that businesses connect with the most suitable candidates, addressing specific hiring needs, especially amid economic recovery efforts.”

Building a Stronger Future for Local Talent
With Perlis recently reporting a 2.0% rise in unemployment, this campaign is timely. It connects local employers with jobseekers amid rising foreign investment, presenting an opportunity to strengthen the workforce across all three states. By using SEEK’s AI-powered matching technology, employers can find candidates more efficiently, ensuring a stronger fit and higher retention rates.

“We are committed to supporting businesses in Perlis, Terengganu and Kelantan through these economic challenges,” Nicholas Lam added. “Our free job ads initiative, coupled with our AI capabilities, allows local businesses to access the talent they need to grow. The positive response from both jobseekers and employers shows how important it is to offer such accessible solutions in today’s competitive job market.”
