The Seremban Sentral Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) is expected to play a pivotal role in driving Negeri Sembilan’s economic renewal, with projections indicating up to RM300 million in annual business activity and around 2,500 new jobs across the healthcare, retail, logistics and services sectors.

The RM2 billion project, spanning 20.8 acres, was officially launched at a groundbreaking ceremony attended by federal and state leaders as well as representatives from Sunway Group and the Railways Asset Corporation (RAC).

Transport Minister Anthony Loke, who officiated the event, said the development signalled a major leap toward establishing Seremban as a modern, sustainable and competitive urban hub.

“Seremban Sentral is not merely a physical project. It marks a new chapter for this city, combining progress with heritage preservation to create a forward-looking identity for Seremban,” he said.

The ceremony was also graced by State Exco member for Local Government Development, Housing and Transport Arul Kumar Jambunathan; Sunway Group Founder and Chairman Tan Sri Sir Dr Jeffrey Cheah; Transport Ministry Secretary-General Dato’ Seri Jana Santhiran; RAC Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Azhar Ahmad; Sunway Group Deputy President Datuk Mohd Anuar Taib and Senior Managing Director Dato’ Tan Kia Loke.

Phase One of Seremban Sentral – scheduled to begin construction in 2026 – will feature a 250-bed Sunway Seremban Medical Centre, a 1.2 million sq ft shopping mall managed by Sunway Malls and a 300,000 sq ft office tower. The hospital will be the first in Negeri Sembilan directly linked to the Seremban Railway Station, strengthening connectivity for patients, commuters and healthcare staff.

All components under Phase One are targeted for completion by 2030, while Phase Two – comprising 3.2 million sq ft of residential, commercial and community spaces – will be developed gradually from 2029 to 2039.

The development is expected to spur significant socioeconomic gains, including an estimated RM15 million in monthly income for workers through direct and supporting economic activities. It is also projected to enhance urban mobility, with Seremban Sentral set to accommodate at least 6,000 daily users.

Tan Sri Sir Dr Jeffrey Cheah said Sunway was committed to ensuring that the project delivers both economic and social benefits through its long-term partnership with RAC.

In line with Seremban’s heritage character, the project will include conservation works at the historical Seremban Yard and redevelopment of the Heritage Market into a more organised cultural and commercial attraction.
