Expanded verification capabilities, including new English proficiency credentials, help jobseekers showcase their qualifications and employers hire with greater confidence
As hiring becomes more digital and AI-generated applications continue to rise, trust and authenticity are emerging as key differentiators in the job search process. For employers, it can be harder to assess whether a candidate’s qualifications and skills are genuine, while jobseekers must work harder to stand out in a crowded talent market.
As part of its broader efforts to strengthen trust and transparency in hiring, Jobstreet by SEEK continues to expand SEEK Pass, its trusted digital credential passport that enables jobseekers to securely verify and share work-related credentials with employers. These include identity verification, work rights, employment history, education qualifications and professional licences.
Jobstreet by SEEK now also enables jobseekers who hold IELTS and Pearson Test of English (PTE) qualifications to verify and display these credentials through SEEK Pass. Through partnerships with IELTS and Pearson, this new feature is available across eight markets in Asia Pacific.

English proficiency remains a highly valued skill across many industries in Malaysia, particularly for roles requiring cross-border collaboration, customer engagement and strong communication capabilities. With verified IELTS and PTE credentials displayed on their profile, jobseekers can provide employers with a trusted signal on their language proficiency, while employers can assess candidates with greater confidence.
Recent SEEK research highlights the growing importance of verified credentials in today’s hiring landscape. Nearly eight in 10 candidates believe a verified profile makes them more trustworthy to employers, while 67% say the rise of AI has made it harder to demonstrate authenticity during the job search process. Additionally, 75% value the peace of mind that comes with having a credible, verified profile, while 77% agree that protection against identity fraud is important when searching for jobs.
Nicholas Lam, Managing Director of Jobstreet by SEEK Malaysia, says, “Malaysia’s labour market remains highly competitive, with candidates looking to upskill with professional certifications and language proficiency to strengthen their career prospects. At the same time, employers are receiving larger volumes of applications and are seeking stronger signals that help them identify suitable talent more efficiently. We believe verified credentials will play an increasingly important role in bridging that gap. As technology continues to reshape recruitment, trust, transparency and authenticity are becoming important markers of credibility for jobseekers, while helping employers make more informed hiring decisions with greater confidence.”
SEEK Pass is a trusted digital credential passport that enables jobseekers to securely verify and share work-related credentials with employers. The addition of English proficiency verification further expands SEEK Pass’s growing range of verified credentials, including identity verification, work rights, employment history, education qualifications and professional licences.
Xavier Russo, General Manager of SEEK Pass, says, “We’ve seen how verified credentials can make a real difference for jobseekers, helping them stand out in a competitive job market while giving employers what they need to make faster, more confident decisions. English proficiency is one of the most in-demand skills across our markets, particularly in Asia, where language skills are often a deciding factor in hiring. Partnering with IELTS and Pearson to bring English proficiency verification to SEEK Pass means we’re solving a real problem for millions of jobseekers and the employers looking to hire them.”
SEEK Pass has helped more than 5 million people verify their credentials across Asia Pacific, with verified applicants 20% more likely to be shortlisted by employers in Australia and New Zealand. Since its launch in Asia in late 2024, SEEK Pass has seen growing adoption on Jobstreet and Jobsdb as candidates aim to strengthen their profiles and stand out to employers.
The benefits of verification extend beyond trust and credibility. SEEK research found that 74% of candidates believe verification leads to more employer responses, while seven in 10 believe it helps speed up the hiring process. Additionally, 69% believe verified credentials help them stand out in a competitive job market.
“At IDP, we believe language skills should open doors. Jobseekers invest real effort to earn an IELTS score, and this partnership with SEEK Pass helps them display their score with pride. We are proud to support any initiative that helps test takers achieve better outcomes as they move into work,” said Michael James, Director, IELTS Operations.
“The inclusion of PTE within SEEK Pass is a meaningful step forward for both employers and jobseekers across APAC,” said Matthew Lampkin, Director, Asia Pacific, English Language Learning, Pearson. “For employers, it offers a trusted and efficient way to verify English proficiency, supporting fairer and more confident hiring decisions. For candidates, it creates a simpler, more accessible pathway to showcase their skills and improve their employability — helping them progress faster in an increasingly competitive job market.”
SEEK Pass plans to expand its English proficiency partnerships to include additional providers in the future.
