Technology Depository Agency Berhad (TDA), an agency under the Ministry of Finance Malaysia, played a key role in this achievement. Through the strategic procurement policy of the Industrial Collaboration Program (ICP), TDA ensures that government procurement delivers high-impact benefits to the nation.

This initiative not only enhances skills but also facilitates the transfer of advanced foreign technology to Malaysia, promoting collaboration between educational institutions and international as well as local companies.

The launch of the Customs Forensic Digital Laboratory is proof of the success of the implementation of the ICP policy to the country. The investment through the ICP involving obligations from Syarikat Lembah Sari Sdn Bhd, aims to upgrade the JKDM Digital Forensic Laboratory with a value of RM8.5 million.

The laboratory is equipped with analysis tools for the Document Forensic Laboratory, Computer Forensic Laboratory, Phone Forensic Laboratory, and Audio-Video Forensic Laboratory. This initiative represents the latest ICP collaboration for upgrading forensic laboratories, which previously included the completion of the Cheras Forensic Laboratory for the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM).

Through ICP, PDRM forensic facilities such as the CSI Laboratory, Digital Laboratory, Satellite Laboratory, Audio Laboratory, and Fingerprint Unit have been upgraded with the latest technology worth RM2.3 million. This ICP underscores the government’s commitment to leveraging strategic procurement for national advancement.

Dr. Sharoul Jambari, CEO of TDA, emphasised TDA’s important role in ensuring that government procurement through ICP brings higher-impact and sustainable returns. He emphasised TDA’s dedication to helping the government towards a fully digital nation, as desired.

To date, TDA has successfully implemented 142 ICP programmes under government procurement, strengthening Malaysia’s strategic industrial sectors. These initiatives have enhanced Malaysia’s global competitiveness, particularly in the areas of technology and innovation.

The 657 ICP projects implemented under this programme have had a significant impact on various aspects of the economy, including income growth, productivity gains, value-added creation in products and services, GDP growth, and strengthening the job market.
