With the global education sector placing great emphasis on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) literacy, the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), through its agency, Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre (MaGIC), has teamed up with Altair (ALTR), the global leader converging simulation, HPC, and AI, to organise the Altair Techlympics: Youth STEM Competition in 2022, dedicated to educate, engage and spur innovative minds among university and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) students.

“We are excited to be part of the dynamic team organising Techlympics this year. It is truly an inspiring initiative that we believe has the potential to create the next-generation of innovators,” said Srirangam Srirangarajan, Altair Managing Director for Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

“With a track record spanning more than 35 years in industrial design, manufacturing simulation, data analytics, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), Altair looks forward to supporting the journey of our young people striving to be groundbreaking innovators who make a difference in Malaysia and the world,” he said.

The Techlympics will touch on the 10-10 Science, Technology, Innovation and Economics (MySTIE) framework. This includes computing and microcomputing, the Internet of Things, robotics, drones, mathematics, creative design and animation, and 3D printing and development.

Expected to generate higher value jobs in the longer term, STEM literacy is projected to open new doors and connect participants to limitless innovative careers in the technology industry.

“As innovations ranging from consumer software and drone technology to enterprise productivity tools and artificial intelligence technologies play a crucial role in the nation’s digital transformation, MaGIC is keen on helping Malaysian students and youths see themselves as part of the innovation economy,” said MaGIC Acting Chief Executive Officer, Amiruddin Abdul Shukor.
