The Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA) is set to roll out 10 strategic initiatives, described as game changers, under the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK13) to strengthen the nation’s preparedness in navigating rapid changes in the labour market.

In a statement, the ministry said the initiatives are crucial in equipping the workforce to adapt to emerging factors reshaping the labour landscape, including advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and automation, demographic shifts, geopolitical uncertainties, as well as the transition towards a green economy and the gig economy.

To gather comprehensive feedback, KESUMA organised the 2026 Budget Engagement Session (SLU), which brought together more than 1,000 participants from various sectors, including government ministries and agencies, statutory bodies, private companies, academia, e-hailing service providers, NGOs, and representatives from the banking industry.

The session was officiated by Human Resources Minister Steven Sim, with Deputy Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad and the ministry’s top management also in attendance.

According to KESUMA, the engagement reflects the inclusive approach of the MADANI Government in preparing a people-centered budget. The 2026 Budget will also mark the first budget under RMK13, guided by three core pillars: raising the ceiling, strengthening the floor, and ensuring good governance.
