The recent Malaysia Education & TVET Awards 2024 event held in Kuala Lumpur saw a total of 60 education institutions and professionals recognised for their outstanding leadership and achievements in the industry. The prestigious 3rd edition
of the awards ceremony was organised by ‘Education + TVET Asia’ Publications. The awards were meant to be from the industry, by the industry and presented to the industry’s outstanding and deserving institutions and businesses.
‘Education + TVET Asia’, an approved publication by Kementerian Dalam Negeri, is a unique publication that features the best in education, training, TVET and service providers to the industry. It covers the industry’s personalities, institutions and trends with highly informative contents.
According to Lee Seng Chee, the Managing Editor of the media, the awards ceremony is organised to honour leading education institutions, best TVET institutions and boutique education service providers in Malaysia. He also said that the event is envisaged to be an annual affair in the region’s education events calendar.
“For this year’s event, the organisers received some 250 nominations from universities, colleges, schools, home schools, training centres, language centres, skills and vocational centres, enrichment and tuition centres, preschools, trainers, instructors and coaches, IT and technology providers. The panel of judges consisting of education and training professionals plus media professionals chose 60 winners.”
The ceremony was officiated by YB Datuk Ts Mustapha Sakmud, Deputy Minister of Higher Education Malaysia. He lauded the efforts of the organisers for bringing together the educational professionals in the country especially those from the TVET sector. He also welcomed more TVET players to further promote TVET education in the country as it is often perceived to be an unattractive option for school leavers. YB Datuk Mustapha said that the TVET education is the key to raising a skilled workforce for country’s stability and economic development.
The awards criteria included leadership, productivity, innovativeness, sustainability, brand excellence, programme excellence, service excellence, product excellence and new start-up excellence.
The award recipients include International Islamic College, Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka, UCSI University Sarawak Campus, University College TATI, Southern University College, GiatMara, Motordata Research Consortium, Centre for Technology Excellence Sarawak, University of Technology Sarawak, Yayasan Felda, Akademi TVET UNIRAZAK and Unimas Business School.
A total of three ILP’s (Institut Latihan Perindustrian) were also honoured for producing skilled talents in the nation and they are from Pedas, Negeri Sembilan, Miri and Kota Kinabalu.
UITM’s Disability Services & Development Division (U-DServeD) was also recognised with the award of Outstanding Services & Support in Higher Education For Persons With Disabilities (Pwds). U-DServeD leads Malaysia’s higher education in empowering individuals with disabilities through pioneering support services and innovative training programmes. Recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records for digitising a record number of books, U-DServeD sets a standard for accessibility and inclusive education, driving positive changes especially in the lives of people with disabilities.
Malaysia Education & TVET Awards 2024 was held in conjunction with ASEAN HR Awards 2024 by hrhub.my.
The event was attended by some 350 professionals comprising owners of universities and colleges, management team members, entrepreneurs and stakeholders of the industry.
