According to the Finance Ministry, the prime minister is set to launch JaminKerja on Feb 19 this year. This is an initiative based on the ‘job guarantee’ concept with 600,000 jobs to be created and involves an allocation of RM4.8 billion.

The first JaminKerja program is the 2022 Career Carnival series this year at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre which will involve 50 employers with over 2,500 job opportunities on offer.

The ministry said there will also be activities such as career counselling, interview sessions with employers, National Employment Portal registration assistance and MYFuturejobs, among others.

The JaminKerja initiative is a collaboration between the Finance and Human Resources ministries as well as agencies such as the Social Security Organization (Socso) and Human Resource Development Corp (HRD Corp).

JaminKerja consists of three main components – JaminKerja Employment Incentive, Malaysia Short Term Employment Programme (MySTEP) and Training and Skills Upgrading Programme.

JaminKerja also encourages employers to provide employment opportunities to target groups such as persons with disabilities (OKU), Orang Asli and prisoners with the involvement of various related agencies, including the Human Resource Development Council (HRDC), Higher Education and International Trade and Industry ministries and MDEC.
